Mercedes-AMG continued to extend its Fanatec GT World Challenge Powered by AWS advantage with another consistent showing at Circuit of the Americas, while Lamborghini remains at the head of the chasing pack in the global standings.

Pro squad Winward Racing finished both races on the podium with its AMG GT3, clinching runner-up spot in the opening contest before coming home third in the second outing. With fellow Mercedes-AMG outfit DXDT Racing clinching Pro-Am victory in race 2, the German marque amassed a total of 517 points at COTA.

Close behind was Lamborghini, which once again swept the Pro class thanks to the impressive K-PAX Racing. TR3 Racing added further points to the Italian marque's tally by finishing third among the Pro-Am runners in the opening contest, giving Lamborghini a total of 475 at the Texan venue.

Perhaps the biggest story of the COTA weekend was McLaren, which amassed a haul of 440 points thanks to Fanatec GT World Challenge America Powered by AWS newcomer inception racing. The British squad took a superb Pro-Am win in its first outing and finished third in race 2, ensuring a major points boost for its manufacturer.

Porsche enjoyed a solid weekend thanks to Wright Motorsports, which finished as runner-up in both Pro-Am races to score 396 points. BMW amassed 108 points courtesy of Turner Motorsport, which took a Pro class podium in the opening contest, while AF Corse gave Ferrari 50 points by winning both Am races.

Mercedes-AMG now leads the way by 256 points from Lamborghini, the Italian marque remaining close enough to mount a challenge against the defending two-time champion. Porsche sits third in the global standings followed by Audi, Ferrari, McLaren and BMW.

Audi was the only brand unrepresented at COTA, but it looks set to make significant gains this weekend when its cars will be out in force in Europe and Australia. Magny-Cours will stage the second Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe Powered by AWS event of 2021, while the Australian series travels to The Bend Motorsport Park for its third round.
